WHAT IS DRYWALL?
Drywall is a panel made of calcium sulfate dehydrate. It has several names, such as sheetrock, wallboards, or plasterboards. Plasterboards have several advantages when compared to plaster. For instance, did you know that a week-long plaster application job can be done in two days if panels are installed instead of plaster?
Apart from the speed at which plasterboards can be installed, gypsum boards also have other advantages. These are:
They Are More Economical to Use
When compared to the time it takes to install plaster and plasterboards, then you get to understand how economical it is. For example, a house that will require seven days to apply plaster can be drywalled in just three days. This means less labor will be needed, and this will significantly reduce the labor cost. Easy to Beautify and Decorate
Unlike plaster, gypsum boards can accommodate several layers of paint and different wall art designs and ideas. Some of the plasterboard designs that can be tried out include paint murals, ancient wall designs, and shelves on wall ideas |
Has Insulation Properties
Some types of panels, such as those made from fiberglass, have excellent insulation properties that reduce a house or property's overall energy bills. It does this by preventing warm air from escaping from your home and cold air from entering the house.

DRYWALL REPAIR SERVICES
Before you call a contractor to repair your gypsum panels, make sure they have the right drywall repair kits. Otherwise, the job might not be satisfactory. A repair kit is any tool that is necessary for the successful repair of a damaged plasterboard. Some of the must-have repair kits that we use are:
A Cordless Drill: It makes it easy to install plasterboards by automatically loading up new screws. It is also much easier to control torque when dealing with a cordless drill than a corded drill.
A Drywall Knife: This is a specially designed knife created to make it easy for an installer to spread the mud on joints and seams. They are made from either metal and plastic and come in sizes ranging from six to 12 inches.
A Corner Knife: It makes it easy to apply mud on hard to reach corners
Mud Pan: A mud pan is a long pan used to store drywall mud during the application process. The pan is advantageous because the installer can move around with it, thereby speeding up the application process.
Dust Mask: A dust mask protects the installer from breathing in dangerous fine dust that may cause respiratory problems.
Pole Sander: A pole sander is a sanding tool that has a long and thin handle. The device is designed to sand hard-to-reach areas such as the ceiling with ease.
HOLE REPAIR & PATCHING SERVICES
Our hole repair and patching services are designed to repair walls that have unsightly nail holes. In some cases, the holes might be due to the door banging too hard on the wall. These types of holes are mainly found in the children's bedroom or the living room.
There are two ways we fix these types of holes; we can either patch the damaged section or replace the entire panel if the gap is larger than 6 inches wide.

FIXING POPPED NAIL HEADS
A popped nail is one that is not adequately held in place by studs. So how do we go about fixing such problems?
In this case, we will drive drywall screws one and ½ inches above the popped nail into the stud so that the plasterboard is reached. We will then move the popped nails into the board and use a drywall sparkle to cover exposed screw heads. Once the spackle dries out, we will sand and smooth the area. When we are done repairing the damaged nail section, the place will look as good as new.

REPAIRING SMALL HOLES
We prefer to use a patch kit when we are dealing with holes smaller than 6 inches wide. We start by placing the patch over the hole, ensuring it is held correctly in place, and then using a drywall knife to apply a spackling compound over the patch. We prefer to use crisscross patterns while feathering because it gives a much better blend.

REPAIGING MEDIUM HOLES
We consider medium holes as holes that are at least 6 inches wide. If the gap is 6 inches wide, we cut a piece of plasterboard at least 2 inches wider. We then score the back of the bored 1 inch from all sides, meaning that we will be patching the hole with a 7 inches larger board. However, keep in mind that you require to leave the paper backing intact. Once we cut out the right board size, we then use a drywall saw to cut a square hole on the wall. Once the board is of the right size, we apply a joint compound on the cut board and then fit it into the hole. Once in place, we cover the entire patch with a gypsum compound until there are no camouflaged lines. Finally, we add two compound coats, sand, and smoothen the area. |
FIXING OF LARGE HOLES
We decide to take a different approach when fixing holes that are larger than 6 inches wide. We first measure the hole's size and cut a square piece that is slightly larger than the damaged area. We hold the square panel over the damaged area, trace its edges on the wall, and then cut the outlined area with a saw or utility knife. Once we cut the area, we install a gypsum board and use a cordless drill to screw it in place. When we are confident that the board's screws are correctly screwed in, we install a joint tape mesh on the patch's borders to strengthen the bond. This reduces movement and the possibility of future cracks occurring. Finally, we cover the patch with a joint compound while feathering the edges to create a consistent blend on the wall.

FIXING A CORNER BEAD PATCH
A corner bead is an area where two pieces of gypsum panels meet to form a corner. Corner bead damage is unsightly and requires to be fixed immediately. When fixing a corner bead, we prefer to start by cutting it horizontally. The cut must be 2 inches above and below the damaged section. We then use a utility knife to vertically cut both sides of the wall and remove the damaged pieces. We then measure the area to be fixed, cut a new piece of gypsum board, and attach it to the site using a manufacturer's recommended adhesive. |
RESIDENTIAL INSULATION
Did you know that the attic loses more than 25% of warm air in your house? If you insulate the attic alone, you will not have helped much as there are other places where warm air can escape. It is for this reason we recommend protecting the entire house. Some of our residential insulation services include:
AIR SEALING
The trick of air sealing is to identify where there is an air leak. Once the right location has been identified, we will use a high-quality acrylic-latex caulk to seal the air holes. Inexperienced air sealers forget that natural air vents should not be filled. If filled, the quality of air significantly drops.

USE OF AN INJECTING FOAM
When we search for air leaks in your home and discover large cracks that may cause warm air to escape, we will seal them off using an injecting foam. The foam is specifically used to seal exposed wall cavities, and the good thing about it is that it occupies the shape of the hole.

- It does not rust

Steel does have its disadvantages. It is these disadvantages that result in wood frames been used in some instances:
- Steel has good thermal insulation capabilities, and as a result, most homes made of steel need to have insulation installed to prevent heat from escaping
- Steel has reduced flexibility as it is difficult to cut it in small sizes than wooden frames. If the factory made steel was made using the wrong measurements, rectifying it is not easy.
- Steel frames can not work independently and require supporting structures such as plasterboards, insulation, and sheathing. As a result, this significantly increases the construction time.

There are some instances where we will prefer wooden frames to steel frames. For example, when a client requests an eco-friendly structure, we automatically prefer wood. It is a natural material and does not release any toxic chemicals to the environment. Other advantages of wooden frames are;
